Response divers complete a full mask course

Divers from the FF St. Veit an der Glan completed a full mask course

On December 27, 2018, on the initiative of diving officer Wolfgang Hinteregger , 3 divers from the St. Veit an der Glan volunteer fire brigade took part in the full mask course of the First Austrian Professional Diving Instructor Association (EOBV). This course was divided into a theoretical and a practical part over a period of 2 days.

The theoretical and technical background to diving with full masks, band masks and diving helmets, the correct securing of divers when working in a diving group, the process of a diving operation using surface protection for tubeless and tube-supplied diving and diving with a full mask and communication equipment were explained. A diving exercise was then carried out on Lake Längsee under the supervision of our professional diving instructor Stefan Arnesch . The aim was to search for a 120kg object under instructions from the surface and to move it to a target point using lifting bags and to recover it. The focus was on teamwork and safe execution of the work.

Part of this course was held in May (we reported) in an extended form for the operational divers. Dives with a diving helmet and surface supply were also carried out under the supervision of our professional diving instructor Stefan Arnesch.
